Sending emails using the same server your website is hosted on can be unreliable. When sending emails using WordPress, you should almost always choose to use an SMTP service.
We recommend Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) as a reliable option for sending registration emails with Registrations for the Events Calendar. By pairing Brevo with the WP Mail SMTP plugin, you can make sure your event registration emails, notfications, and confirmations reach inboxes instead of spam folders (or be rejected outright).
Setting Up Brevo with WP Mail SMTP
Brevo offers several plans, including a free option with up to 300 emails per day, which works well for small to mid-sized event registration needs. Follow these steps to get started:
- Install WP Mail SMTP for free from the WordPress.org repository
- Follow the steps in the setup wizard and choose Brevo as your mailer.

- You’ll need to configure Brevo. Use the link provided for step-by-step information on how to setup a Brevo account and get an API key.

- You may also need to change the email address used to send emails. This setting is found on the “Email” tab within the Registrations for the Events Calendar.

Once complete, your event registration confirmations, attendee reminders, and other automated messages will send more reliably. Instead of ending up in spam, your participants will receive their confirmation emails on time. This creates a smoother registration experience and helps you build trust with attendees.
