For those who need to consider cookie usage on their sites, this will serve as a short guide to help you understand how Registrations for the Events Calendar uses cookies.
Free version
The free version of Registrations for the Events Calendar does not use any cookies under any circumstances. All registration data is recorded without the use of any persistent data. User data that prefills form fields is from the WordPress user system.
Pro version
By default, the pro version does not use any cookies. However, when allowing visitors to make edits to existing registrations, cookies are used instead of the WordPress login to associate the site visitor with the proper registration record. This is the setting that will enable cookie use:
The cookie used has the key “rtec_wp_session”.
This cookie is not used for anything other than allowing logged-out visitors to edit a registration using the associated email address used when registering for an event.
Limitations of Site Visitors Who Reject Cookies
Site visitors that reject the use of cookies will still be able to use nearly all functionality of the registration process. The exception would be that they won’t be able to make edits to an existing registration. What could be done instead is that the visitor could cancel the existing registration and then register again with different information. This process does not use cookies.
